Robert Downey Jr.’s Career, Flops and Successes: The Shaggy Dog, Dolittle, and More

“Honestly, the two most important movies I’ve made in the last 25 years are The Shaggy Dogbecause Disney said they would protect me, and Dolittle“said the actor. The Shaggy Dog came out in 2006, but flopped in the cinemas. Nevertheless, the American’s career went well after that, with leading roles in several major series such as Iron Manfrom Avengers in Sherlock Holmes.

The film Dolittle, about a veterinarian who can talk to his patients, was co-produced with his wife Susan. Robert calls it “a missed opportunity” that the 2020 film did not do well in theaters. “The stress it caused my wife when she rolled her sleeves up to her armpits to even make it usable enough to take to market was shocking.”

Downey Jr. says that Dolittle has brought him and his wife something good. “We’ve re-prioritized and made some changes in who our best business advisors are,” says the actor. “How do you say that again? Never let a good crisis go unused.”
