The name of Robert De Niro became a trend in the last few hours on Twitter (now X), after a video where the American actor is seen facing a group of protesters in favor of Palestinewho are asked to go home.
The event would have occurred in Manhattan, New York, where the actor is filming a new Netflix movie called ‘Zero Day’, and where a group of pro-Palestinian protesters, who were speaking out against Israel, went to break in.
Which is why De Niro, who on previous occasions has publicly expressed his support for the Israeli people, confronted the protesters saying:
“This isn’t a movie; this is real. Stay tuned, offer your support, offer prayers, that’s great. But you have to do it from behind the barricade. And if you’re going to keep talking nonsense, then you have to go home.”
Robert De Niro and his closeness to Israel
Also in the past, it was known about the friendship that the two-time Oscar-winning actor had with the deceased Moshe Dayan and Ezer Weizman, former Minister of Defense and President of Israel, respectively.
“I always enjoy coming to Israel. Israelis are warm, they are energetic people. Frank. Very intelligent. I always like smart people. They’re nice people, you know. Aggressive, and I respect that aggressiveness because you need it in your situation,” commented De Niro at the time, who also condemned the attack by the Islamist group Hamas on Israel on October 7.
“These people are dangerous and they say they are going to do it again! Again! We don’t want that. You don’t want that. “None of us want that.”
