Robert De Niro was acquitted by the court on Thursday of gender discrimination, intimidation, unwanted physical contact and verbal abuse. His former assistant Graham Chase Robinson took the eighty-year-old actor to court.
De Niro’s production company must pay more than one million euros in damages to Robinson. The demand was more than 11.3 million euros.
De Niro was in court at the end of October. There he dismissed the woman’s claims as “nonsense”. “I only asked her to do things that were reasonably possible, within the scope of her job,” he said of the allegations.
Robinson claimed that De Niro treated her like “his office lady”. She would have to perform “humiliating household tasks” for the actor and demanded damages of more than 11.3 million euros.
Robinson’s attorney, David Sanford, is pleased with the ruling. “We are very pleased that the jury saw what we see and ruled in favor of Chase Robinson against Robert De Niro’s company.”
De Niro and his lawyer have not yet responded to the ruling.
