Robbie Williams wants to buy League One club Port Vale | Football

Celebrities stepping in and buying football clubs is no longer an unusual sight.

Perhaps the most high-profile purchase was that of actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney when they took over ownership of the small Welsh club Wrexham AFC.

Now the world artist Robbie Williams can be next in line for an English club purchase.

According to sources of English The Sun Williams has prepared a bid for Port Vale – who are currently bottom of League One. Port Vale is the artist’s favorite team and he often flaunts Port Vale gear in various contexts.

It is also speculated that Williams wants to copy Reynolds and McElhenney’s concept with Wrexham – where they made a documentary series about the journey to establishing themselves in Wrexham.

“Robbie would add star quality”

“Port Vale remains one of his greatest loves, and it has always been his dream to be more involved with the club. He’s had a couple of meetings and his fans are incredibly happy,” a source reportedly told The Sun.

“The club believes that Robbie would add star quality and make Port Vale a major player,” the newspaper writes further.

Now it remains to be seen if Williams makes a bid for the club of his heart.
