TODAY’S SNACKIS: Can take over his favorite club

Robbie Williams is about to do something that many football fans dream of: Buying the club in his heart.

It is, of course, Port Vale, the artist’s favorite club since childhood. The Sun reports that he has the backing of a consortium to take over the team, currently in League One.

The plan is to do something similar to what Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have done with Wrexham, that is to film a documentary series about Port Vale and follow its progress.

A source tells the newspaper:

“It’s still not completely clear but Robbie has received a formal request if he is interested in fronting the bid. Port Vale is one of his greatest loves and it has always been a dream for him to be involved with the club. He has had a couple of meetings and his supporters are very excited”.

QUOTE OF THE DAY: Arteta on the fight

– Sometimes after a match the emotions overflow. But I love that the players push each other and demand the best, says Mikel Arteta, referring to the images of Ben White confronting teammate Oleksandr Zinchenko after the 2-1 win against Nottingham Forest.

MESSAGE OF THE DAY: Hopeful about Isak

Newcastle coach Eddie Howe had not expected Alexander Isak to signal for a change shortly before the break in the meeting with Aston Villa (1-3).

– It came as a surprise. I wasn’t sure what was happening, it came like a bolt from the blue, says Howe according to The Mirror.

– We hope it is not a serious injury. It doesn’t look too bad, although it’s too early to say for sure. We need to properly diagnose and then take it from there.

TODAY’S CLARIFICATION: Van Dijk responds

Virgil van Dijk insists he is fully focused on Liverpool, despite comments the other day which indicated he is unsure whether he will stay at the club.

It was when Jürgen Klopp announced that he was leaving after the season that Van Dijk was asked about his own future and whether he will be part of the new era.

– That is a big question. I don’t know, answered the centre-back according to the Daily Mail.

On the statement that he only has 18 months left on his contract, the answer was vague:

– That’s correct, good math. Like I said, I don’t know.

In an interview with Men in Blazers, Van Dijk now believes that the whole thing was taken out of context.

– To be one hundred percent clear, the club has my full commitment. I love this club, I love the supporters. It is completely taken out of context. It’s not about me, it’s about us and nothing will change, says the Dutchman.
