“The absence of sex in a marriage is only a problem when one wants it and the other doesn’t, when you have different expectations or requirements,” says 49-year-old singer Robbie Williams. Together with his six-year-younger wife, Ayda Field, in an interview for The Sun he admitted that sex is something they have hardly been doing in recent years. However, they are both said to be happy this way.
“The truth is, everyone knows there’s no sex after marriage. That’s just the way it is,” says Williams, who attributes the drop in his libido to having to stop testosterone. “I was taking testosterone for a while, but because I’m addicted, it had to stop,” he said, adding that taking the hormone started causing him psychological problems. However, he fondly remembers the time when he took it.
“But the sex we had when I was on testosterone was incredible. We were ravenous. I miss that. It was a fun time. But now sometimes Ayda turns to me on the couch and says, ‘We should break it up, ‘ and I’m sitting there eating a tangerine and just kind of shrugging my shoulders. So we’ll try it sometimes,” he added with a laugh.
The singer’s wife is also satisfied with how their intimate life looks. “Intimacy is an important and meaningful aspect of love. We are happy,” says Field. “I think people confuse sex with intimacy. We’re always snuggling and kissing and holding hands and touching each other when we’re just watching TV on the couch or a movie or whatever,” she adds, adding, that he has many girlfriends who allegedly force themselves to have sex with their partners. She finds that awful.
