A man was robbed of his valuables at knifepoint yesterday afternoon on the Amsteldijk, near the Amstelpark. The police are looking for a suspect with a striking description.
The victim was walking on the Amsteldijk in Zuid around 1:10 p.m. when he was near the Rozenoord Bridge when a man in red sweatpants suddenly walked towards him. He forced the victim at knifepoint to hand over his valuables.
The perpetrator fled with his bag in the direction of the Rozenoordpad. Although the victim immediately called 911, officers who rushed there did not find the suspect. The bag was found, but without valuables. The victim was not injured.
The suspect has blond messy hair and was wearing a black T-shirt and red sweatpants. Anyone who has seen him or knows more about the incident is asked to contact police.
