A spectacular and very dangerous chase for the police took place on the evening of Monday, May 3 on the A22 motorway, in the Nord department.
Two young people from Lille were arrested in Belgium, near the city of Kortrijk, after giving the police a hard time.
As reported by our colleagues from France Blue, whose information has been confirmed by the court in Kortrijk, the individuals are suspected of having stolen a motorcycle from its owner’s home in Comines, France. In the evening of Monday, their van is spotted by the police officers of the anti-crime brigade (BAC) of Tourcoing, following a report.
The stolen motorcycle and fire extinguishers thrown on the road
But the driver refuses to comply, collides with the police car, and engages on the A22 motorway in the opposite direction, in the direction of Belgium. The ferry then chased the van.
What follows is a chase worthy of a Hollywood movie: the second criminal opens the rear doors of the vehicle and throws the stolen motorcycle in the direction of the police vehicle. The latter managed to avoid it, as did fire extinguishers also launched by the second occupant of the van.
The two Lille residents, aged 17 and 19, finally left the motorway after about twenty kilometers following a flat tire and were arrested by the Belgian police. They will very soon be handed over to the French judicial authorities, still according to France Blue.
