“Today I blow out 39 candles!” Rob Kemps wrote on Instagram today. “The greatest gift I received yesterday was when I asked the love of my life at the very tip of Île Saint-Louis if she wanted to marry me and luckily she said YES.”

The love of his life is Stephanie Klaver, a blonde who used to work as a background dancer for his Snollebollekes act. Klaver also danced for The Voice of Holland in Toppers in Concert. The two have been in a relationship for a little over a year and appeared together on the red carpet for the first time last month, during the premiere of the musical Piaf.

Peaks and valleys

Kemps’ life goes from left to right, but definitely also has ups and downs. The Brabander booked considerable successes with his festival act ‘Snollebollekes’, sold out stadiums, won the final of De Slimste Mens and presented the program Chansons! together with Matthijs van Nieuwkerk. But suddenly his television career was a bit over. Rob’s own talk show on SBS6 flopped, just like game show The Wheel.

And when in 2023 it was also written that Kemps had abandoned his wife Miriam Swinkels and children for his backing singer Stephanie Klaver, all hell broke loose. He dismissed the criticism as ‘whining’ and stated that there was never any question of cheating. Yet he seemed to have completely lost the goodwill factor for a while.

Comeback

Yet during the European Championship in Germany, the Brabander suddenly returned. Like a jack in the box. His number Left Right became the anthem of the Orange Legion and images of the Dutch partying went around the world. Kemps was there like a shot to perform his act live before every match. Together with the tens of thousands of football fans present of course.

Earlier this year, Rob was also back on TV, when he presented the program My Tribute to Elvis together with Battle of the Bands winner Bouke Scholte. It is not known whether the professional partygoer has more TV plans.
