On stage, he was more than once overcome with emotions. He even had to stop singing for a while on the song Against Better Knowing, one of his favorite songs. As tears streamed down his cheeks, he turned his face away from the audience.

The band stopped playing, his backing choir no longer sang and the audience also felt his sadness. His manager and pianist Frank Jansen walked up to Rob and handed him a handkerchief. “Leave me alone, I need to catch up,” Rob said. The audience stood en masse to put a heart to Rob. It helped. More powerful than ever he sang his favorite song again.
