The very official waste disposal union of the agglomeration of Roanne (Loire) will collect user surgical masks to transform them into clothes and flower pots.
It is a company located in the “Plastic Valley” of Ain that has developed this know-how. The main material of the mask is polypropylene, which is crushed, spun and made into a T-shirt, precise progress.
Elastics transformed into flowerpots
The elastics and the seams of the mask are made from a mixture of material which is transformed into plastic parts, including flower pots.
Of collection points will be disposed of in the Roannais Agglomeration and the Community of communes of the Pays between Loire and Rhône.
In France, around 150 million surgical masks are used each week, or nearly 40,000 tonnes of waste per year.
