“Fat” has become “huge” and Umpa Loompas have become “people” and not “men”. This is how Roald Dahl’s books will become more contemporary.
It is the British publisher Puffin that implements the changes.
They have had so-called sensitivity readers review a bunch of Dahl’s texts and write about them. Away with offensive words and wording that may offend. In with inclusive language that means the books “can still bring joy to everyone today”.
