Road workers still hope that the first ten kilometers of D49 will open this year – Zdopravy.cz

If part of the D49 highway can be opened before the end of the year, the number of new road kilometers will exceed 110 this year.

The Directorate of Roads and Roads (ŘSD) still believes that it will be possible to open part of the reserved D49 highway between Hulín and Fryšták this year. Of the seventeen kilometers, the first 9.5 kilometers between Hulín and the Holešov interchange could be put into service between holidays.

The position is an early confirmation of a valid building permit with the Ministry of Transport. “As the building is almost complete, we can greatly accelerate the final work and meet this year’s deadline,” Radek Mátl, head of the ŘSD, told Zdopravy.cz. According to him, the opening of the section will improve the traffic situation in the area. It will remove transit traffic from Holešov, especially from road II/432.

The construction of the D49 Hulín – Fryšták highway was stopped several months before its completion in May by the Supreme Administrative Court (NSS) at the instigation of the Children of the Earth association. The court dismissed the legal validity of the building permit for the main road. The minister of transport will now decide on the restoration of legal authority based on the decision of the demolition commission.

Meanwhile, Mátl believes that the rest of the highway to Fryšták will open in the first half of next year. ŘSD does not have a zoning decision in the majority for a temporary assembly near Fryšták, which was suspended by the Regional Court in Brno this year based on a lawsuit by Dětí Země and the Egeria association.

If the aforementioned 9.5 kilometers of highway are opened before the end of the year, the number of new road kilometers will exceed 110 this year. Around 90 new kilometers are to be opened in the week before Christmas alone, these are on the D3, D4, D55 and D48.

Until now, the most generous years in the history of construction of the Czech highway network were 1980 and 2006, when 78 new kilometers were opened.
