Road traffic fatalities have dropped sharply in the UAE, says a study

Study shows that road traffic fatalities have decreased in the UAE. Traffic control and traffic awareness measures implemented by the government have led to a reduction in accidents and fatalities, the transport department said. The study indicates that road accidents have been reduced by a third in 10 years.

There has also been a significant reduction in the number of people injured in road accidents. The study is believed to indicate the success of various measures taken by the government. This was revealed by the research of ‘Injury Prevention’, a publication of the British Medical Journal. The road safety campaign and activities were implemented under the ‘Vision 2021’ plan implemented by the UAE government.

Road safety laws were tightened in the UAE in 2007 and 2017. Speeding, using a mobile phone while driving, distracted driving, not keeping distance between vehicles, changing lanes sudden and crossing the red signal are considered the main causes of accidents.
