Like a hemorrhage, the figures of Road Safety in Guadeloupe continue to increase. In 2020, the number of fatalities on our roads reached ten. In 2021 and even though we are only at the 5th month of the year, this figure will double: 20 people have already lost their lives on the roads.
A 100% increase that fears the worst for this year. As often, it is the vulnerable users who are the fatal targets of these road accidents. Pedestrians, motorcyclists, bicycles represent 68% of those killed.
And the degradation is total. All the indicators are in the red: increase of 27% of accidents, and of 20% for the number of victims. The hour is serious in Guadeloupe, and the violence of the last accidents recorded on the roads of Guadeloupe proves, that it is necessary to quickly reverse the trend.

Days to alert business leaders to the safety of their employees

A week of awareness raising to remind people of the legislation, to discuss, organize forums and detect any ill-being of those who spend time on the roads as part of their activity. Quizzes and explanatory brochures are thus made available to companies wishing to participate in the event.
As we now know, in 2019, 12.5% of fatal accidents concerned people traveling as part of their work or on the way home to work.
All companies are therefore concerned by these road safety days, regardless of the number of employees. The situation on the roads of the archipelago is serious and everyone can act to stem this scourge which affects all Guadeloupe families.

Road safety at work days concern employees, traveling for their professional activity or on the home-work route. They will end this Friday, May 21.
