Ro Alert issued a warning message regarding the presence of a bear in the Rampa Ștefan cel Mare area, Triage in Sibiu. Authorities urge people not to approach the animal, feed it or attempt to take pictures with it.
After calls were received to the single emergency number 112, a SMURD crew was mobilized to the scene, to respond to any medical requests, as well as crews from the County Inspectorate of Police and IPJ.
The bear was seen and filmed running through Vasile Aaron, as can be seen below. The frightened animal took off on Semaforului street, forming a line of cars behind it.
It is important to remember that bears are wild animals and can be dangerous when they feel threatened, especially when they are not in their natural environment. People who encounter a bear are advised to keep a safe distance and avoid any action that might cause agitation or stress to the animal.
In recent years, a decrease in the hibernation period of bears has been observed due to climate change. Climate change may affect the quantity and quality of food available to bears, as well as the temperature and length of winter.
Ro Alert requests the cooperation of all people in this area to respect these recommendations and to protect both themselves and the wild animal. If you see the bear or have information about its presence in the area, contact 112 immediately.
