This morning, Yoann Gillet, RN deputy for Gard, was the guest of Jean-Marc Morandini in “Morandini Live” on CNews. The politician mentioned the situation in Nîmes where the municipality announced the closure of the Marc Bernard media library, located in the Pissevin district, due to insecurity.
“This neighborhood lacks law enforcement, it lacks security. It’s the problem of justice too. There are a lot of arrests but behind we find these delinquents – who bring terror to the inhabitants of the neighborhood – released the next day. It lacks courage on the part of Gérald Darmanin who does absolutely nothing. He has been alerted to the situation for years, “he began.
And to add: “The Minister of the Interior only makes operations and announcements of communication here and there, as he has been used to doing for many months. It is a failure of the government which doesn’t do anything. Settlements of scores in these neighborhoods, there are many. We let it happen with impunity”.
“There is a real lack of courage on the part of the government. If we want to act, we have to bang our fists on the table, put law enforcement and penalties that are really dissuasive”, continued Yoann Gillet.
“When there are problems like in this neighborhood, let’s send the army! Even if it’s not the main role of the army, if support is needed from time to time, let’s do it! Our police will be helped by our armed forces to be able to restore order”, concluded the politician.
At the beginning of the week, the mayor of Nîmes, Jean-Paul Fournier, had decided to close the municipal media library of Pissevin until further notice due to the worsening of the violence targeting the 18 members of its staff and the inhabitants of this impoverished neighborhood.
Mr. Fournier had notably denounced the establishment of “barricades” and “check-points” in the district, and the fact that the agents of the media library are subjected to “palpations in the middle of the street before accessing their post of work”.
