Corona numbers yesterday and a week ago – incidences and new infections in Germany
The highest seven-day incidence up to the fifth wave was in Germany in spring 2021, on April 26 – with a value of 169.3. After that, apart from a few exceptions, it fell steadily. It reached its lowest point on July 6, 2021, when the nationwide incidence was 4.9.
The 7-day incidence has so far been the basis for corona rules and restrictions during the corona pandemic, for example as part of the federal emergency brake that expired at the end of June 2021. Other values such as Hospital Admissions (Hospitalization Incidence) taken more into account and used as parameters for any measures.
How meaningful are the current corona numbers?
Experts assume a high number of cases in the RKI data are not recorded. Test capacities and health authorities are therefore at the limit in many places, and contacts are only tracked to a limited extent. In addition, the number of people who no longer have their infection confirmed by a PCR test is likely to increase – the infection is therefore not included in the official statistics.
