RKC Waalwijk lost the home match against FC Groningen 1-2. In the final phase, RKC attacker Oskar Zawada received a red card after he had headbutted goalkeeper Etienne Vaessen. The 1-2 meant the second league defeat for the home team. The visitors from Groningen won for the second time in a row. Last week, the team of trainer Dick Lukkien won 4-1 against NAC Breda.
Jorg Schreuders shot FC Groningen into the lead in the eleventh minute. Thom van Bergen doubled the score in the 77th minute. Leandro Bacuna prepared both goals and even hit the crossbar himself. Etienne Vaessen returned as goalkeeper of FC Groningen to RKC Waalwijk, the club for which he defended the goal 210 times until this season.
