The Eredivisie duel RKC Waalwijk – PEC Zwolle has been canceled. The game was to be kicked off on Saturday evening at 6.45 p.m., but due to four corona infections at the home team and the associated quarantine of eight players, the game cannot take place.
The players and staff of RKC have been tested for the corona virus in the past 24 hours. Four positive cases were found and after the first source and contact investigation of the GGD it was decided that eight players of the club must be quarantined. That number could increase even further and that is why the KNVB has decided to cancel the game.
The decision was made after consultation between the KNVB’s union doctor, the RKC club doctor and the GGD. That can be read on the website of the Waalwijkers. “None of the parties thinks it is appropriate to bring the group of players together and play the match against PEC Zwolle,” says the statement. The club considers the health and safety of players most important.
The game was scheduled to start at 6:45 PM on Saturday evening, October 3. The KNVB will soon announce a new date for the match.
