RK Pramono responds to ‘Disneyland being built in Cikarang or the Thousand Islands’

Jakarta Governor Candidate Number 3, Pramono Anungasked Jakarta Governor Candidate number 1, Ridwan Kamil (RK), regarding RK’s plans to build Disneyland. Pramono asked, did RK really want to build Disneyland in Cikarang or the Thousand Islands?

Pramono’s question was asked in a question and answer session between the gubernatorial candidates at the Jakarta 2024 Gubernatorial Election Debate held at Beach City International Stadium, North Jakarta, Sunday (27/10/2024). Here are Pramono’s questions for RK:

Mr. Ridwan Kamil and Mr. Suswono were distinguished. Our question is short and simple, in 2018, Kang Emil said he would build Disneyland in Cikarang, now Kang Emil, when he was a candidate for governor in Jakarta, he said he would build Disneyland on Mile Islands. Will it really be built in Cikarang or Seribu Islands?

Then RK answered Pramono’s question. According to RK, leaders must have the courage to make decisions. Leaders must have imagination, said RK, although they may succeed or fail in their journey.

RK said that the business of Disneyland can sometimes be within the political will, but the business contract may not be included. But, RK said, the most important thing is that leaders have to try.

“Because the worst leaders are those who have no imagination, who do not want to try, and after being elected, they just sit quietly to seek election safely in the 5 years ahead of us,” he said.

He believes that Jakarta is very concrete, because not many tourists visit the Thousand Islands. Therefore, RK suggested that there should be a special economic zone area in Jakarta in the Thousand Islands.

“And we have met with several parties who said that it is very transparent until foreign exchange comes in, so it will be a payment to receive foreign currency, so it cannot for the class to be an Ancol class anymore.
