American basketball player RJ Barrett served as one of the most important players within the ranks of the New York Knicks during the last seasons; This allowed him to support the team to have a better competition performance and become one of the most outstanding teams in the Eastern Conference in the NBA.
Despite his great performance within the Big Apple organization, his internship within the New York Knicks made the decision to transfer him along with Immanuel Quickley to the Toronto Raptors in order to welcome OG Anunoby into their ranks in order to be able to include one of the main figures for the future.
“I had no idea. I just got the call when it happened. I asked myself: ‘What is happening? He was so confused. I did not see him coming. When he told me the Raptors, I thought, ‘Okay, at least I’ll come home,'” RJ Barrett said during a recent interview with Andscape.
Barrett, born in the city of Toronto, was chosen by the Knicks in the 2019 NBA Draft; Since his arrival to the team he quickly became an offensive leader and throughout his career within the basketball franchise he averaged 18 points, five rebounds and almost three assists per game.
“I helped build something in New York. When I got there we were not well. I left it much better than when it started. It’s definitely bittersweet, but I’m happy for those guys over there. They are happy with the exchange they made and I wish them nothing but the best. I grew as a player and as a person there in New York. I will never forget those four and a half years,” added the player.
It is important to highlight that the Knicks are currently in fourth position in the Eastern Conference with a record of 22 wins and 15 losses. For his part, RJ Barrett has demonstrated all the qualities he possesses on the court and in the four games he has played he has already accumulated an average of 21 points per game, which includes the 37 points he scored against the Golden State Warriors on September 7. January.
Barrett and Quickley will have their first game at The Garden for the first time after leaving the Knicks on January 20 when the New Yorkers receive the Toronto Raptors, a team that seeks to improve its performance this season by placing itself in box number 11 in the Eastern Conference with a record of 15 wins and 21 losses.
