JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The public prosecutor (JPU) considered the defendant to be a crowd of Petamburan Rizieq Shihab wrote an impolite sentence in his exception.
The reason is, Rizieq asked the Police and prosecutors to repent before being punished by Allah SWT.
“It shouldn’t be at the end of the exception that the police and prosecutors repent immediately before being punished by Allah. These are examples of words that should not be displayed by someone who understands ethical principles,” said the prosecutor in a trial held at the East Jakarta District Court, Tuesday (30 / 3/2021).
In his exception, Rizieq discredited the Police for criminalizing religion by ensnaring him in a crowd case in Peamburan.

“The defendant’s perception that discredited the police, argued that the activities of the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday were part of slander against the police, the defendant was worried that the call for prayers, services and temples was incitement to congregation of crime so that the defendant concluded it was the criminalization of religion,” said the prosecutor.
According to the prosecutor, Rizieq’s statement was too much and only formed a wrong opinion.
“The statement was exaggerated and dramatized and served as an aim to form an opinion,” said the prosecutor.
As for the reading of the exception last week, Rizieq Shihab insisted that he was slandered by the police and the prosecutor’s office.
The slander that Rizieq alluded to was related to the invitation from him and the implementing committee for the Maulid Nabi Muhammad SAW in Petamburan on 14 November 2020.
Rizieq warns of punishment
According to him, if the invitation to glorify the Prophet is referred to as incitement to commit a crime, Rizieq is worried about later religious criminalization that could occur in any religious activity.
“Me and the Maulid committee invite people to come to glorify Prophet Muhammad SAW and make him a role model, not to incite people to commit crimes,” said Rizieq in his exception received by Kompas.com from his attorney, Aziz Yanuar.
“If the Mawlid invitation is slandered by the police and the prosecutor’s office as an incitement to a crowd of crimes, then I am worried that in the future, the call to prayer to the mosque, invitations to church services, and calls for worship in temples and temples will also be slandered as an incitement of crowding crime, so this will become a criminalization of religion, “he continued.
Rizieq stressed that only non -religious people slandered the invitation to worship as incitement.
“For God’s sake, I swear that only non -religious or anti -religious people slander the invitation to worship as ‘incitement to evil’,” he said.

Not only that, Rizieq called on the police and prosecutors to repent.
“Therefore, through this trial I appeal to the police and the prosecutor’s office; immediately repent of Allah SWT before you are subject to Allah SWT’s torment,” said Rizieq.
The case of alleged violations of health quarantine in Petamburan with the defendant Rizieq Shihab was recorded under number 221 / Pid.B / 2021 / PN.Jkt.Tim.
Rizieq is suspected of violating Article 160 of the Criminal Code and / or Article 93 of Law Number 6 of 2018 concerning Health Quarantine in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) 1st of the Criminal Code and Article 216 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) 1st of the Criminal Code.
