Riyadh –
Kiper Sevilla Yassine Bounou don’t move to Bayern Munich. Al Hilal who managed to tempt the Moroccan player to join there.
Bounou was initially linked with Bayern looking for a new goalkeeper after Yann Sommer was released to Inter Milan. This is because the main goalkeeper and captain Manuel Neuer has not recovered after breaking his leg last December.
Bounou is considered the right person to fill the goalkeeper post until Neuer recovers. However, the ongoing negotiation process eventually stopped because there was no agreement.
It is likely that Bounou is reluctant to just be a spare for Neuer. Therefore, Bounou did not think long about accepting a bid proposal from the Saudi Aarab club Al Hilal.
Al Hilal paid Sevilla 21 million euros or around Rp. 350 billion to use Bounou’s services. Bounou will be on a three-year contract by Al Hilal.
Bounou’s transfer money will be useful to overcome Sevilla’s financial crisis which has forced them to sell several players. Bounou played his last game with Sevilla when he lost to Manchester City in the European Super Cup yesterday.
Bounou strengthened Sevilla since four years ago, after being released by Girona. He has been instrumental in the birth of two Europa League titles and two consecutive top-four finishes.
Yassine Bounou will join several other top players at Al Hilal such as Kalidou Koulibaly, Ruben Neves, Malcom and Neymar.
