Monitor in the sky of the Arab world the association of the waning moon with the planet Mars, as it separates them by about 3 degrees in a phenomenon, and can be seen with the naked eye in clear skies.

The head of the Jeddah Astronomical Society, engineer Majid Abu Zahra, said that the Moon and Mars are observed towards the northeastern horizon, and since the apparent distance between them is large, they will not appear together in the field of view of the Jeddah. telescope, but this can be done through binoculars.

He stressed that weekly observation of Mars’ brightness is very important to monitor how it will change dramatically between now and next December’s rendezvous day, as these dramatic changes in Mars’ brightness (and its red color), saying these changes are part of the reason for the magnificence of looking at Mars in the night sky.

The engineer, Abu Zahra, said that Mars is not a very large planet, with a diameter of only 6,790 km. Mars rotates around the sun outside the Earth’s orbit, and the distance between the Earth and Mars changes.

Interestingly, the date of Mars’ next encounter, when the planet will appear at its peak brightness two years from now in the sky, will be December 2022.
