Chavakkad: C.K. Riya Basheer from Muthuvattur, Chavakkad became the top scorer of the Kerala team in the Naidu Under-23 Cricket Tournament. Riya Basheer scored 458 runs in the six matches played even though Kerala did not advance in the tournament.
Riya, a right-handed opening batsman, has scored a century and four half-centuries. Century-117 against Goa. Scored half-centuries in both innings against Railways. The other two fifties came against Andhra and Rajasthan teams.
Riya, who has played in the U-14, U-16 and U-19 teams of Kerala, has performed well this time. Riya started his cricket training through Paluvai Cricket Academy. Later, while playing for Thrissur Apex Cricket Club, he was selected for the Kerala Cricket Association’s Academy. Presently cricket coach P. Trained at Thrissur Atreya Cricket Academy under Balachandran.
Rhea also trained at the Karnataka Youth Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. BA from Kalamassery St. Paul’s College, Ernakulam. Rhea Basheer is a first year English student. Riya’s goal is to play for India. He is the son of Muthuvattur Chellamparambil Basheer and Sajitha.
