Last week, the LCPS reported 546 admissions outside the intensive care unit, up from 521 a week earlier. 125 admissions were registered in the intensive care unit, compared to 98 a week earlier.
According to the RIVM, the peak in the number of new admissions seems to have been reached. This does not automatically mean that the occupancy rate also decreases, but it concerns the number of people in hospital. Eventually it should.
There are now 719 people with corona in hospital (yesterday: 719), of whom 199 in the ICU (yesterday: 197), the LCPS reports.
Distribution is declining
The so-called reproduction number, which indicates how quickly the virus spreads, remains well below 1. On July 19, the R was 0.69, which means that 100 people infected with corona together infect 69 others.
As long as the R remains below 1, the spread of the virus will decrease. After the relaxations a month ago, the R briefly rose to 3, which means that 100 people together infect 300 others, so the virus is spreading very quickly. The R-number is always from two weeks ago, data from more recently is not reliable enough.
