RIVM reports more than 75,000 positive tests, the highest number since the start of the pandemic

75,199 new positive tests have been reported to RIVM until 10:00 this morning, the highest number since the start of the corona pandemic. On average, the number of positive corona tests is increasing: in the past seven days, an average of 61,553 positive tests were registered per day. That is 34 percent more than the seven days before.

It should be noted here that RIVM has significant backlogs. There are still about 131,000 positive tests from the past 13 days that have yet to be processed. In reality, there are even more positive tests than the figures now show. Yesterday the backlog was still at least 122,000 positive tests.

Two deceased covid patients

Two deceased covid patients were reported to RIVM. In the past seven days, RIVM recorded an average of nine deaths a day, compared to eight deaths a day a week earlier.

Fewer deaths are reported to RIVM on weekends. As a result, these figures are almost always lower on Sunday and Monday than in the rest of the week.
