12,282 new confirmed corona infections have been reported to the RIVM until 10:00 this morning. That is 281 more than yesterday.
The number is higher than the average last week, when an average of 10,475 positive tests were added per day. That’s bad news: if the number of tests is above average, it could indicate an increase.
Occupancy increased in hospitals. In total, there are now 2065 people with corona in hospital (yesterday: 2034), of whom 560 in the IC (yesterday: 549), reports the National Coordination Center for Patient Distribution (LCPS).
290 new corona patients were admitted to the hospital’s wards. That is 26 new recordings more than yesterday. 45 new patients were admitted to intensive care, almost all of them transferred from the nursing wards. That is 7 new recordings less than yesterday. Thus, more corona patients were admitted than were discharged or died.

56 deceased covid patients were reported to the RIVM. Yesterday there were 85. Over the past seven days, the RIVM registered an average of 63 deaths per day, against 52 deaths per day a week earlier. These are deaths known to carry the coronavirus; according to Statistics Netherlands, the actual number of deaths is higher.
How quickly the number of deaths continues to rise depends in part on the number of infections in nursing homes. There are now 642 nursing homes where at least one corona infection has been diagnosed in the past two weeks. A week ago there were 586. At the height of the first corona wave, on April 15, there were 828 nursing homes with at least one infection.
