The TV program has a report from RIVM that states that the virus has been found on the mesh of the ventilation system and in the air conditioning. The air was always circulated in the same room, without mixing with other rooms.
It would be a modern and energy-efficient ventilation system. But ventilation experts say it would be much safer to just open the windows.
In the De Tweemaster nursing home, 17 residents and 18 employees became infected with the corona virus. Six residents did not survive that.
The conclusion of the research at De Tweemaster is an important ‘puzzle piece’ in the spread of the coronavirus via ventilation systems. It is not known how many other nursing homes have a similar ventilation system as in Maassluis.
