To date, the RIVM has processed 8,669 reports of positive test results. That number therefore gives a distorted picture.
A spokesperson for the ministry says that the missing figures will be processed in the figures that will be released on Sunday. Then the number of reported new infections will most likely be a lot higher. “The average of the figures for today and tomorrow will provide a more accurate picture,” said the ministry. It is unclear what exactly happened with the RIVM computer systems.
Death rate
The reports that have already been processed include 55 deaths of people who were infected with the virus. Although the figures are not yet complete, that number is higher than Friday, when 47 deaths were registered. This does not mean that all these people died in one day, reports of deaths are often not passed on until a little later. In total, nearly seven thousand Dutch people died from the Chinese lung virus.
On Friday, the RIVM reported 10,007 new infections, but that number has been slightly corrected and now comes to 9996. The limit of 10,000 reported positive tests in one day has therefore not yet been passed.
Rotterdam
In the provisional data published on Saturday, the Rotterdam-Rijnmond region takes the lead: 937 positive test results were registered in the port city and environs. The number of registered deaths was also highest there with 11. The Haaglanden region followed with 856 new cases. Utrecht registered 829, Twente 642 and Amsterdam-Amstelland 620.
