RIVM: 19 deaths and 9 admissions in one week from coronavirus | NOW

Since last week on Tuesday, the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) has received reports of nineteen people who died from the consequences of the coronavirus, while nine Dutch people were admitted to hospital. The new reported number of deaths is about the same as in the previous week (18), when three times as many admissions were reported (27).

In addition, 432 people were tested positive for COVID-19 in the past week. The previous week involved 551 people, bringing the total to 50,694.

According to a conservative estimate, some 2,800 people are still highly contagious to others, according to the corona dashboard of the National Government.

In total, according to official figures, 6,132 people in the Netherlands have now died from the effects of the coronavirus, while almost 12,000 people have been hospitalized.

Previously, the figures were updated daily, but since July, RIVM has released one weekly update on the number of deaths, hospital admissions and infections.

Actual numbers are greater because not every corona patient has been tested. The RIVM figures also do not relate to the actual number of hospital admissions and deaths: these are only reports that have been received by the institute and there is a delay in this.
