The manufacturer of a purely electric SUV and pick-up confirmed the planned arrival on European markets.

According to current expectations, Rivian, which has so far introduced only the R1T electric pick-up and the R1S derived electric SUV, should launch sales in the US market later this month. During November, the company is expected to enter the Canadian market, but the carmaker’s expansion certainly does not end there.
In an email conversation with potential customers from Europe who turned to the Rivian Customer Engagement Center, the carmaker confirmed that it plans to enter the markets of the old continent as early as 2022. A snapshot of the email then appeared on the Rivian Owners Forum website.

Unfortunately, the carmaker did not mention the specific markets in which it should appear, nor the models it wants to offer in Europe. It is almost certain that we will see the R1S SUV, but above the R1T pick-up, question marks remain due to the preferences of European customers.
However, RJ Scarnige, the founder and head of Rivian, has indicated in the past that the company is considering the development of smaller models, designed primarily for European and Asian markets. There has also been speculation in the past that the company should look for locations for a production plant in Germany, the United Kingdom and Hungary.

In addition to smaller models for European and potentially Asian markets, electricity could also be produced in Europe by Rivian is developing together with Amazon. After all, Amazon was to invest several hundred million dollars in a new electric vehicle manufacturer, described as one of the biggest competitors for Tesla.
However, the information about the new European plant is only speculation, but it is certain that sales of battery electric cars on the European market are constantly growing, which is an opportunity that Rivian does not want to miss. In addition, there is speculation about the planned expansion to Australia and New Zealand.
