Riverdale season 4: episode 17, Archie kissed by three characters, our verdict of the musical episode

A new musical has arrived at Riverdale High in episode 17 of season 4 of Riverdale. The series loves its musical theater, and “Hedwig and the Angry Inch” is a different vision of the performances they have made so far. But, every time the show is inspired by a musical, something bad happens in town. So, did Hedwig live up to the legacy of the musical history of Riverdale? The Stonewall saga is over, but those scary VHS tapes still appear on everyone’s doorstep. Jughead and Archie sing the very appropriate “Wicked Little Town” by Hedwig and The Angry Inch, soon joined by the full cast, and while Betty urges Jughead to catch up on class to graduate on time, sneaks up to Charles to offer help in finding VHS tapes. What would Jughead do without a mystery to solve?

A rhythmic musical episode!

“Wicked Little Town” has captured the rebellious and edgy feeling of the musical, most of the characters and intrigue breaking free from their restrictions. However, the chapter sometimes felt disjointed when Riverdale tried to inject songs into the natural course of history when that was not right. There was a strange blurring between reality and fiction, with songs coming to life that you didn’t know if they were happening or if it was just in a “performance” setting. For his part, Archie signed up to play as a group … called The Archies! He recruited Jughead, Betty and Veronica to join his group, although they don’t exactly like the name. Thereafter, Kevin was ready to give up and sing an Oklahoma song when Fangs encouraged him to “become a rebel. So instead, he dressed in Hedwig’s costume and ordered everyone to enter the music room, where he sang “Tear Me Down” and passionately kissed Archie!

Tensions to be expected between couples!
Tensions to be expected between couples!

In this musical episode of season 4 of Riverdale, Cheryl and Toni tried to convince the main Honey to change their minds with a sassy performance of “Sugar Daddy” at Pop’s, and the whole school showed up with Hedwig wigs and makeup to support Kevin’s reinstatement. But it is useless: Honey ends up completely canceling the variety show. Meanwhile, there were troubles in paradise for our two main couples … Veronica got mad at Archie because he hadn’t told her that her father was training at the gym and was not going to see his doctor , and Betty got mad at Jughead when she found him investigating these VHS tapes instead of studying … Is it possible that ruptures are to be expected in the next episodes? It would seem so … Especially with the kiss that followed!

The Archies!
The Archies!

The tensions will be there … Betty ended up at Archie’s house, and they remembered the good times they spent together when they were children before singing “The Origin of Love”. And then … they ended up kissing, for real this time! They are both a little embarrassed when they return to see Jughead and Veronica. Especially since Jughead apologized for having exploded his studies, and Ronnie offered to host a variety show at the speakeasy so that The Archies could occur… but Betty and Archie are still thinking of each other. They look at each other through their bedroom windows and sing “Wicked Little Town” while dreaming of dancing slowly together in her bedroom … Will Betty and Archie end up as a couple? Fans of the Barchie couple should be happy but those of Bughead much less … This episode 17 of season 4 of Riverdale was still fun, had catchy songs and dropped major shocking moments. But, all the rallying cry to sing a song did not really reflect the cause …
