Rivalry aside. Joint assistance of Slavia and Teplice

8/17/2024, Editorial Board

The match between SK Slavia Praha and FK Teplice was about more than just football. As part of the “Beyond Rivalry” project, both clubs jointly handed over checks in the amount of CZK 130,000, which will help two families in a difficult life situation.

“Social responsibility is as important to us as sporting success. This project shows that rivalry can be healthy and beneficial when it comes to helping those in need. We are proud that we can do something together with other clubs that has a real impact on our society,” said Jaroslav Tvrdík, chairman of the board of directors of SK Slavia Prague.

In today’s match between Slavia and Teplice, something took place that goes beyond the boundaries of sports competition. Both clubs decided to join forces again in the framework of social responsibility and handed over checks worth CZK 130,000, which will help two families. One amount will be used to buy a sports stroller for Miss Stáňa, and the other to pay for a neurorehabilitation stay for little Jár.

“We are very happy that together with Slavia we could once again help those in need through our club foundation funds. Already last season, we made fun together in the retirement home in Bystřany, supported women in asylums or helped little Petřík, who is fighting the disease of butterfly wings. We want to continue to develop these joint activities in the area of social responsibility,” adds Pavel Šedlbauer, chairman of the board of FK Teplice, to the joint initiative.

The ‘Beyond Rivalry’ project shows that football clubs can compete on the pitch but at the same time collaborate on important social activities off it. This initiative, which aims to unite clubs in the Czech league, brings a new dimension to the rivalry – we are not only fighting for victory on the field, but also for helping those who need it.

Goals of the “Beyond Rivalry” project:

  • Social responsibility: Active involvement of football clubs in charity and community projects, improving living conditions in local communities.
  • Fan Cultivation: Inspiring fans to behave positively and support socially responsible initiatives, creating opportunities for volunteer activities.
  • Promoting sport as a tool for change: To show that sport can be a powerful tool for positive social change and strengthening the role of sport in the community.
  • The “Beyond rivalry” project will continue, not only between Slavia and Teplice, but also with other clubs in the Czech league who want to get involved in social responsibility and help those in need.

Together we can do more than just play football. Together we can change the world for the better.
