The tour is carefully guarded, it takes place under extraordinary measures. Fifty-nine-year-old Prudhomme must now withdraw from the race for at least a week and remain in quarantine. On the other hand, all 166 riders who are left of the original 176 participants in the race can start until today’s tenth stage.
The suspicious test was solved in the Deceuninck-Quick Step team, but in the end it was not confirmed. Repeated sampling at one of the stable’s collaborators, which is also run by domestic star Julian Alaphilippe, brought a negative result. “We will continue the race normally,” representatives of the Belgian team said in an official statement.
All 22 stables underwent mandatory coronavirus tests during Monday’s day off at the Tour de France. In total, more than 650 inspections were carried out. According to the rules of the famous race, two positive results in the team during seven days mean automatic exclusion. In addition to the eight riders, the team also includes all members of the entourage, including mechanics, physiotherapists and sports managers.
