Rittner Bildungshaus Celebrates 40 Years with Record Numbers and Future Plans for Inclusivity and Sustainability

Ritten – More than 530,000 people live in South Tyrol. Extrapolated to the family home, each of these people has visited the Rittner Bildungshaus once in the past 40 years. The numbers are constantly increasing, awareness and popularity are increasing, and the club is valued as an employer. Club president Heiner Oberrauch referred to this at yesterday’s anniversary general meeting. 40 years ago, on September 7, 1984, the association was founded with great commitment by Willi Rotter (1930-2009) and with the active support of long-time president Benedikt Gramm. In addition to Benedikt Gramm, the general assembly was also attended by long-term president Hugo Endrizzi and founding member Maria Kusstatscher. The board with its president Heiner Oberrauch set the direction: it is now about greater integration of people with a migration background, about strengthening professional training, about aligning with Vision 2040 and thus about sustainability as an all-encompassing issue.

525,000 people have visited the family home in 40 years, the same number of people as South Tyrol has inhabitants. Last year alone there were 15,000 people. They have participated in more than 400 events. In 2023, the family home recorded a highest number of participant days at its own events in its 40-year history: 38,000 participant days were counted, of which 25,000 participant days were attributable to courses, seminars and courses that the family home organized itself. This means an increase of more than a quarter compared to 2022 and an increase of almost five percent compared to the previous second-placed year 2018. Never before have so many people slept and eaten in the family home as last year: more than 84,000 plates were filled and almost 27,200 overnight stays were recorded.

Last year, 2023, the family home increased vocational training with a focus on social professions. All further training courses are summarized in two educational brochures each year, which are sent to 11,000 households before summer and before Christmas, as well as an annual brochure for professional training. The days of the family festival at the beginning of June 2023, which had the motto “Diversity Family”, were particularly intense.

The social changes do not stop at the family home. Originally designed as a house for German and Ladin-speaking population groups, children, young people and adults from multilingual and multilingual families have long been guests at the Rittner Bildungshaus, as well as members from family constellations and structures that go beyond the traditional idea of family. They are all welcome in Lichtenstern, as are people with a migration background. The general meeting discussed intensively how these can be integrated even more closely into the company in the future. In the future, the family home wants to promote getting to know each other and exchange ideas more strongly and to develop and offer specific offers together with those interested.

In recent years, the Rittner Bildungshaus has been working on its Vision 2040: “We focus on the dignity of the person based on a holistic view of humanity and are committed to inclusion and the sustainable use of resources,” said Heiner Oberrauch. Accessibility and openness to intercultural work are anchored in the house. As a wonderful place for a variety of events in the middle of nature, responsible behavior plays a special role in all areas. The kitchen is also committed to healthy, local and mindful food.

Vice President Harald Mengin informed about the current construction activity. The family home is currently being renovated to conserve resources. Additional storage rooms for the kitchen and an extension of the lounge area will be created under the village square, which can also be used as an additional educational room.

Heiner Oberrauch and the board members Harald Mengin, Manuela Weber, Judith Bertagnolli, Rosmarie Karbon and Toni Fiung concluded by thanking Director Elmar Vigl and the entire team at the family home, who, day after day, with a lot of effort, succeed in making education an experience.
