It is one of the most risky evenings of the year for the gendarmes: New Year’s Eve, on the night of December 31 to January 1.
This Monday during Novel anthe Rhône gendarmes carried out several checkpoints in the department in the metropolis of Lyon.
50 gendarmes at checkpoints
Several coordinated checkpoints this New Year’s Eve were set up, mobilizing a fifty gendarmes of the Arbresle company and the Dardilly motorized brigade.
They targeted motorists traveling on the roads of the communes of l’Arbresle, Craponne, Tassin-la-Demi-Lune, Dardilly, Souzy, Sainte-Foy les Lyon, l’Argentière and Saint-Laurent de Chamousset.
Around thirty offenses in a few hours
The series of checks on New Year’s Eve was rather prolific for the gendarmes. They observed a thirty offenses. The soldiers noted eight driving under the influence of alcohol, four under narcotics, one refusal to submit to screening, eight technical inspection faults, four insurance faults, and one non-transfer of registration.
The gendarmes also came across certain motorists accused of failing to obey the red light, excessive speed and issued three tickets for drug use.
