Dirk Ramaekers, the head of the vaccinations task force, says in “The world today” that Belgium has an advantage over other countries in compiling such lists: “We have a lot of digital data. We can draw from three sources: on the one hand, the cancer registry, for people who have been diagnosed with cancer in the past 5 years, in addition to the health insurance funds and of course also the general practitioners, who are also extensively medically digitized.
Privacy is respected, Ramaekers emphasizes: the list only states whether someone has an increased risk, not what condition it concerns. The detailed medical data therefore does not flow through.
