It occurs in different parts of the breast. The breasts consist of three main parts: lobules, ducts, and connective tissue. Most breast cancers start in the ducts or lobules.

What are the types of breast cancer?

The most common types of breast cancer are:

Carcinoma ductal infiltrante: Cancer cells multiply outside the ducts and invade other parts of the breast tissue. Also, these invasive cancer cells can spread or metastasize to other parts of the body.

Infiltrating lobulillar carcinoma: Cancer cells spread from the lobules to nearby breast tissues. Also, these invasive cancer cells can spread to other parts of the body.

Carcinoma ductal in situ: It is a breast disease that can lead to breast cancer. Cancer cells are found only in the layer that covers the ducts and have not spread to other tissues in the breast. It is one of the least common types of breast cancer.

What are the risk factors and information for developing breast cancer?

There are two factors. The first is the non-modifiable: age over 50 years, having dense breasts and early onset of menstruation. Also, a family history of breast or ovarian cancer.

Modifiable factors are physical inactivity, being overweight, obesity, taking hormones, and drinking alcohol.

Who is at high risk for breast cancer?

If you have a family history of breast cancer or inherited changes in your BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes, you may be at high risk of developing breast cancer. Also, you are likely to be at high risk for ovarian cancer.
