Rising Violence in France: Latest Updates and Mayors’ Call for Order

> A surge of violence has been affecting France for several days, after the death of Nahel, a 17-year-old boy shot dead in Nanterre, on June 27, during a roadside check.

> The Côte-d’Or is not spared: a school in the Grésilles district was set on fire on Saturday, a police station was attacked overnight from Friday to Saturday in Beaune, many vehicles were burned in Dijon and Beaune, in particular on the Dijon public parking lot, among others.

> In the night from Saturday to Sunday, a mayor was even the target of violence: he is the first city councilor of Haÿ-les-Roses, in Val-de-Marne, whose home was attacked in the ram-car.

> In response, the Association of Mayors of France (AMF) called for a rally in front of town halls this Monday noon “so that order returns”.

> Several gatherings are expected in front of the town halls of the Côte-d’Orien departments, with the participation of elected officials from the territory.
