Every year more and more married couples have their marriage contracts amended. Last year, this involved 26,463 Belgian couples, according to new figures from Notaris.be. Older couples in particular do it in the context of succession planning or to provide extra protection for their partner. HLN wealth expert Isabelle Verhulst explains in which three cases it is best to sit down together again and which risks you can avoid: “Anyone who does not pay attention will pay for the professional debts of the self-employed partner.”
