Attacks by hackers who attack the networks and security of hospitals, government offices or companies are increasing all over the world. They are also a threat to ordinary users. And according to experts, it will be very difficult not to fly in. With the help of artificial intelligence, these scams will become more and more credible and will be targeted at specific people.
Fraudulent emails, text messages, advertisements or phone calls. A thing that most people have already encountered. However, it is becoming more and more difficult to recognize a fake, and it will get worse.
“The attackers get more and more money with each attack, which they reinvest in their company. They can finance further research and improve their attack techniques as well as detection,” explained the director of technological threat research, Michal Salát.
Artificial intelligence is also said to be to blame. “Artificial intelligence increases the danger, because it can make frauds tailored to each individual and therefore more believable,” said Michal Pěchouček, technical director of Genu and an expert in artificial intelligence.
Danger often lurks in the applications we install on our phones. “The moment that user allows access to his mobile phone, those applications can download all the images and documents that are on that phone,” noted Salát.
The increase in the number of internet frauds is also confirmed by the police. “Cybercrime is growing. This year alone, we have registered approximately 7,800 cybercrime frauds,” said Ondřej Moravčík, spokesman for the Police Presidium.
Some time ago, the police even set up a specialized unit. “It will be a year since the National Center against Terrorism, Extremism and Cybercrime has been operating and it is dedicated to the most sophisticated criminal activity,” Moravčík pointed out.
So people should be cautious and always make sure that there is no scammer on the other end. “Be careful when opening e-mails and downloading files from unknown sources. Do not click on suspicious links and also be careful when sharing your data online,” said Eva Rajlichová, spokeswoman for the National Cyber and Information Security Office. People should use two-factor authentication when using mobile banking.
