Thrissur: After Minnumani, 14-year-old Shreya.P Siju has become a new star in women’s cricket from Kerala. The player has gained national attention with his brilliant performances at the Under-15 level. The player grabbed national attention when he scored an unbeaten 171 with 26 fours and 1 six as an opener against Tripura in the U-15 match in Chhattisgarh last month. Kerala defeated Tripura by 262 runs in the match. He scored 303 runs in five matches in the championship. He was selected for the state team for the first time in 2022. He also performed well in Twenty20. Shreya, who turned to cricket with her brother Alvin when she was in the fourth standard, is climbing the heights through rigorous training. He is hoping to be selected for the U-15 national camp to be held in March. He is training at the Atreya Cricket Academy in Mundur near Thrissur. Dinesh Gopalakrishnan is the first coach. P. Balachandran and Haidarali are also getting the guidance. Panakkal, a teacher at another school, is the daughter of Siju P. John and Dhanya. Kunnamkulam Bathani is a 9th standard student of St. John’s School. His brother is also a cricketer.
Good at wicket keeping too
Shreya excelled in batting as well as wicket keeping. Manamkavaran impressed with his excellent catches in the championship in Chhattisgarh.
I want to play in the Indian team. I believe it can be done. The performance in Chhattisgarh is a confidence booster.
