Fréjus Swimmer Lilian Schlienger Shines in First Selection for French Team
Fréjus, France – Lilian Schlienger, a licensed swimmer from the Multi-sports and Leisure Association of Fréjus (AMSLF), has achieved his goal of joining the French junior team. In his first selection for the team, Schlienger wasted no time in making his mark, securing two podium finishes.
Competing at the Mediterranean Swimming Confederation Cup (Comen) in Larissa, Greece, Schlienger, a pupil of Jérémy Mortier, showcased his talent by winning the relay in the 4x100m medley. He also claimed a commendable second place with his teammates in the 4x50m 4 mixed strokes. Individually, Schlienger finished sixth in the 100m butterfly and tenth in the 200m medley.
Hélène Martinache, the technical and sports director of the swimming section of the AMSLF, praised Schlienger’s dedication to the team. “He was keen to succeed with the team and bet everything on the relays. It was a little more complicated individually, even if he was doing his usual time in 100 pap,” Martinache said.
At just fifteen years old, Schlienger, a student at Camus High School in Fréjus, trains under the guidance of Jérémy Mortier, attending nine sessions per week. His season will continue with the France Open championships, scheduled to take place in Poitiers in mid-July.
Schlienger will be accompanied by his young teammate from the AMSLF, Dina Rahal. Martinache explained that the Poitiers competition will be the last national event of the season, featuring all the big clubs in France. “We will debrief the Comen with Lilian in order to set goals. For Dina, it will be about running over unusual distances, getting out of the sprint,” Martinache added.
Schlienger’s success in his first selection for the French team is a testament to his talent and hard work. As he continues to compete at the highest level, the young swimmer from Fréjus is poised to make a name for himself in the world of swimming.
