There is probably no higher praise for a referee. In fact, Jakob Semler put in a fantastic performance in the Veilchen’s 4-0 home win against FC Blau-Weiß Linz. It was his very first assignment as a referee in the Admiral Bundesliga.
The 32-year-old is considered one of the greatest referee talents – not just in Austria, but in Europe.
Even kicked in the national league
In 2012, the Styrian started his career as a referee at the age of just 21. Before that, he played football himself, most of the time at SC Liezen, where his father works as the pitch announcer. Semler has played a few games in the Styrian regional league.
FAK coach Wimmer also praised the fourth official, Markus Hameter: “You could communicate with him in a sensible, normal way. That was great. That’s how you imagine it. Then games run more normally.”
