All about the: Tour de France 2023
Felix Lebrun won, on Tuesday June 27, 2023, the table tennis competition at the European Games being held in Poland, while his older brother, Alexis, 19, was adorned with bronze. From this Thursday, the players of theNîmes-Montpellier Table Tennis Alliance (ANMTT) will try to win another medal for France in the team competition.
In the meantime, a few hours after his singles victory, the youngest of the Lebrun brothers answers questions from Camille Astruc, journalist at France 3 Pays Gardois.
Alexis Lebrun – I’m super happy, it’s incredible for me to win a title like this. It’s a lot of emotions to manage to win such a tight match against a very good experienced player. I’m starting to go back down necessarily because there is the team competition from tomorrow. But for now, there are still a lot of emotions, a lot of pride, so I’m very happy.
I didn’t necessarily start out very well. He won the first set and then I took over. But it turned on his side again afterwards, so there were a lot of twists and turns in the game. […] It was a very intense game and at the end I managed to get away with some pretty incredible points.
It gives a lot of self-confidence! Now that I’ve won a big title, I know I’m capable of doing big things in a four-set winning format and in a big competition. So that gives me confidence for the future, to continue to progress and to hope to get even bigger titles at the world level!
Of course, I hear a lot about it. But I try not to think about it too much because there are a lot of competitions ahead. So I try to perform competition by competition and obviously it has always been a dream to participate in the games so I hope to perform as much as possible there.
To be two on the podium, Alexis third and me first, is exceptional, we didn’t expect it at the start of the competition. So of course, we savor we take advantage of the moment. We called our family too. It’s crazy to get two medals in a European competition with my brother. He’s third, I’m first, it’s exceptional. We did not expect it at all! And then the last time in the French championship, it was he who was first, and this time it was me. I hope we will continue on this path to bring back more and more medals.
