ÖAustria’s weak economic development continued in the third quarter of the year – also in the Scheibbser region, although the momentum on the labor market is high. Not only the number of unemployed people, but also the number of vacancies has increased in the area compared to the previous year.
At the end of October, 528 people in the Scheibbs area were registered as unemployed by the employment service. That’s 59 more unemployed than in October of the previous year. This increase of 12.6 percent is significantly higher than the Lower Austria average of 7.6 percent. “Nevertheless, with an unemployment rate of maybe 2.9 percent, we are still among the top 3 in Lower Austria so we are only half the value of Lower Austria’s unemployment rate of 5.8 percent,” says Scheibbser AMS branch manager Peter Müllner.
