Rising main level: flooding at the test center in Würzburg

Flooded bike paths and meadows, blocked parking spaces: the flood has now also reached Würzburg. According to the city of Würzburg, the Main currently has a water level of 3.51 meters. According to the flood news service, reporting level 1 of 4 currently applies – but the trend is falling again towards the weekend. Lower Franconia has been struggling with floods in smaller tributaries for several days. The situation there has now eased.

Flood at the test center on the Würzburg city beach

The water is also already at the Corona rapid test center on the city beach, near the Lion Bridge. The parking lot there is already flooded and closed. But the operation in the test center is currently running normally, said a press spokesman for the city of Würzburg, to BR24. A crane is available to move the test site a little if necessary. Should the flood situation worsen, the test site could also be closed at short notice.

City of Würzburg: “Currently no danger”

“We currently have the situation under control. People come to test things as normal, on foot or by bike,” said the city of Würzburg. The city is prepared for all eventualities – but do not assume a greater danger. Nevertheless, the approaches to the new port, the cycle paths near the shore and the “Stadtstrand Würzburg” test site on Ludwigkai are regularly checked, explains the city.
