Only today do we realize how wonderful times we lived in the past years. Everything was in abundance, if not in excess. People simply came to the store and could buy a full basket of food at very affordable prices. No one thought that there could be any blackouts or perhaps a dramatic increase in prices.
Unpleasant consequences
But that is exactly what we are observing now. Times have obviously changed, and this was first reflected in the fact that practically all food items became more expensive. Those who regularly go to the store are literally changing before their eyes. What only a few years ago cost 30 crowns, today you can buy it for 60 CZK. Unfortunately, the increase in food prices was the most significant.
In addition, the global supply system appears to have begun to crumble. In addition to various local problems, farmers in many places have been affected by a significant crop failure, which has continued for the past several years. This then leads to situations that we are not very interested in at first, before they affect us fully.
One such is that rice prices have gone up in India due to the crop failure. Such a message did not even reach us. But then this country announced an export ban so that there would be enough of this key food for the domestic market and the price would not rise further.

A number of foods are becoming more expensive
And suddenly it was big news, because it turned out that this country exports the most rice in the world. As the server informed CNBC, in a number of countries this led to the fact that people began to buy rice in bulk, as its price rose very steeply. However, in this way they highlighted the whole problem. In some places, they bought up rice and artificially created an even greater shortage.

Unfortunately, this is just a sample of what it could soon look like with a whole range of different foods. Problems now occur with, for example, olive oil, wheat or cocoa. However, shortages usually do not manifest themselves in completely empty store shelves, but in the fact that everything becomes more expensive in such a way that people can hardly afford it, which actually suppresses demand.
